Inspiration

Happy October! I am working on lots of new projects at the moment. I will keep you posted.

I the meantime I hope you enjoy these two photographs which I took in a charity shop.....I can see potential for a story happening here!

 

Vintage Books

Well Hello!....On my travels the other day I found some more vintage children's books.
The Story bumper book is from 1935. the Henny Penny is from 1984. I am not sure of the dates on the Ladybird books; but I remember having a few Ladybird books when I was little. So maybe they are from 1970's - 1980's?

The Wheel House

I went to the fantastic 'Freedom Festival' last weekend. It has lots of live bands, dance, art and street theatre; including this amazing piece of circus theatre from 'Acrojou' below . They are called 'The Wheel House'. It shows an acrobatic tale told in a wheel. The two people inside the wheel climbed in and out as they told their tale. The wheel is a hand-built structure and it was truly amazing to watch.

Unusual Animals

Home

Hi! I saw these two books in charity shops at the seaside and I thought "you are coming home with me"....so they did! I love them.

I had a lot of the Ladybird books when I was little ( I still have some of them).

And the 'Home' book is quite old....it is from 1965. I love the illustrations.

The books are quite tatty, but this is wonderful as it is a sign that they have been well read and enjoyed.

 

 

Cake Pops

Hi there! I love the look of cake pops, so I thought I would have a go at making some for my mum's birthday. I think they look like little sweet trees!

 

Old Books

I found these tiny books of two of the Brother's Grimm Fairytales; 'Snow White' and 'Hansel and Gretel' from an antique book fair in Whitby last month. I love Fairytales and just had to buy them! They measure 8cm x 5cms.

I also found this old Hans Christian Andersen book from a car boot stall which says inside that it is from the 1930's.

Hi! Here is some new stitched artwork from moi!
I found some old tiny picture frames from a charity shop (see below).

I took out the prints inside and made some tiny appliques which now fit snugly inside. (See below).

Playing at the Park

Hello!

Here is a small selection of artwork from a new children's book I have recently completed entitled: 'Playing at the Park' by Chunjae Education Publishers in South Korea.

The storyline focuses on children playing safely at a park. Little 'alien children' which have come down from space, would like to join in but are uncertain of how to play on the rides at the playground. The children then teach them how to play correctly and safely.

I mainly used acrylic paints along with chalk pastels and pencil crayons.
